PREMIO FERRARI 2018 – MASTERCLASSES WITH THE GREAT PIANISTS

 In News

PREMIO FERRARI Fortepiano 2018 – Published the Regulations on the Premio Ferrari’s site – Exceptional master classes of DEMUS, SCHOONDERWOERD and VESSELINOVA.

The Premio Ferrari dedicated to the historical piano returns this year (December 12-16 2018) in the innovative way of masterclasses (piano soloists and chamber music with piano) with final prize concert.

The organization provides scholarships for 3 chamber formations (with piano) and 4 solo pianists.

Teachers and jurors of great fame will be one of the great fathers of the historical piano performance Jörg Demus the renowned pianist and conductor Arthur Schoonderwoerd). (Among his most interesting achievements are the concerts of L.V. Beethoven and those of W.A. Mozart with the Cristofori Ensemble), and the famous pianist Temenuschka Vesselinova.

The second important novelty of this 2018 edition is indeed the collaboration with the Ancient Piano Museum in Ala and the prestigious collection of historical keyboards created by Temenuschka Vesselinova.

Ala still has the same cobbled streets and 17th and 18th century palazzi seen by Mozart. Both the rehearsals and preliminary rounds of the competition will take place in Ala in the beautifully preserved Palazzo Pizzini von Hochenbrunn, in the same room where W.A. Mozart and his father Leopold played for their hosts. The  Final Award Concert of the Premio Ferrari 2018 will  take place in Rovereto (a charming town 20 minutes from Lake Garda), also visited by Mozart.

Of particular interest to the participants will be the chance to play on a copy of a fortepiano Silbermann (ie the type of piano known to Bach) of the appreciated maker of historical keyboards Kerstin Schwarz and to study and present in final concert duos, trios and quartets with piano.

As always, there will also be pieces by the Trentino musician Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari, to whom the Premio is dedicated. Registration deadline 8 December 2018.
